REFRESHINGLY HONEST, AN INSPIRATION TO MANY & HAPPIEST ON TWO WHEELS

A bit about me
My blog (www.fatgirlfit.co.uk) follows my journey to a healthier and happier me, discussing different events I take part in, training and product reviews. It’s an honest account of my journey – warts and all!
I am on a journey to a healthier and happier me and I follow my journey from an everyday person’s view getting started with fitness, discussing different events I take part in. It’s an honest account of my journey – warts and all!
Where did my journey start?
Back in 2015 I would be the one-woman cheerleader for my husband as he took part and completed many many sporting events. Never did I think that I would be taking part in an event – would much rather be nursing a large glass of wine and yet here I am. Who would have thunk it?!
I had never been sporty in any way shape or form. I was the girl at school who would write a fake note from my mum for PE class to get out of doing it – most weeks! Knowing where to start was hard – so I plagued my husband with questions and we joined a gym together. I hated the gym! My opinion was that the gym seemed to be full of fit people who make it look so easy whilst it takes me all of about two minutes to turn beetroot red and sweat – they say women glow, I don’t, I sweat, like a beast! So, I would not go on my own – the thought petrified me! But now I do, all the time and I love it.
Two years ago, I did not take part in any sporting activity and now it is part of my everyday life. I am now 60lbs lighter than when I started and although I still have a long way to go I am determined to get there but my focus is now from a healthier stand point and not focussed on weight loss but on being healthier and happier, which I have learned along the way.
Through this journey I have taken up cycling, running including obstacle running – I am at my happiest when on two wheels or covered in mud at an OCR event.
I am also a This Girl Can Essex ambassador and through this I have really enjoyed encouraging other ladies to join me getting more active.
Motivating factors
I am all about the fun – I like to laugh and smile and enjoy what I am doing!
Kitchen equipment I couldn’t live without
My K-Mix is my kitchen baby!
Biggest challenge
Comparison is the thief of joy and I am trying not to compare myself to others. I try and live by my strapline ‘be fearlessly unapologetically you’.
Health & fitness goal
Does not to always look like a sweaty tomato during exercise count?
My health tips
Know what is in your food! And understand what you are doing to avoid injury.
Foods I can’t resist
There are too many but I am partial to a gin and tonic and everything goes with avocado right?
Favourite healthy snack
Frozen grapes – so so good!
Favourite exercise
Anything on two wheels, involving mud or at the gym a deadlift – I do love a deadlift.
