Anusara means ‘Flowing with grace’ (going with the flow) and following your heart. The yoga blends tantric philosophies with principles of alignment and movement. Anusara Yoga serves to help people in opening to the fullness of their lives and help with everyday struggles and negative thinking.
I had little experience with yoga before I went to the class. Well to be honest I had zero experience with yoga, as I always thought Yoga was boring. To me yoga was just something I associated with breathing and stretching and not being a proper work-out. Thats why I really never seen the point with doing yoga and have instead practiced pilates for the past 3 years.
As recommended by I friend, I decided to do the Anusara yoga class with Leila Sadeghee as she is said to be one of the best Anusara teachers in London. I immediately liked the teacher, she was friendly and gave attention to everyone in class. She gave everyone good guidance on each posture even though most people seemed to be very experienced (unlike me). She opened and ended the class with meditation and relaxation. As we proceeded with the movements, she kept telling us inspirational stories and how she wanted everyone to reach their highest potential and face everyday challenges. The teacher seemed very genuine and like she truly cared for our well-being, which was really inspirational.
As the postures got more challenging and I found myself starting to sweat like a pig, even though the movements were not particularly physically demanding. The sequences got quicker and quicker and I could feel that my body getting deeper and deeper into each posture and all I could think of was the posture and my breath.
I left the class feeling peaceful, clear-minded and relaxed. After going to the same class 3 times I really feel de-stressed and more enlighten. Anusara yoga has definitely been a very interesting experience and I will continue doing Asunara yoga to strengthen my whole body, but most importantly find inner peace.
Anusara Yoga is definitely recommended as it helps you feel revitalised and de-stressed-both on and off the mat.
