This week I was lucky enough to try out some of Rude Health’s new range of cereals. While I already knew their plant-based milks, I didn’t know that the company actually started by making muesli!
I like Rude Health’s credentials. The boxes for the new range of cereals are made from previously recycled fibres and they work with partners to fight food waste and redistribute excess foods to those that need them. They also use European almonds grown in bee-friendly, smaller yields.
What’s in the range?
The new range contains 4 granolas (Low Sugar, Crunchy Raisin, Ultimate Organic and Crunchy Almond), 4 porridges (Fruity Date, 5 Grains 5 Seeds, Sprouted and Daily Oats) and 5 mueslis (Low Sugar, Coconut, Ultimate, Crispy Almond and Bircher). I was sent the Low sugar and Crunchy Raisin granolas as well as the Low Sugar muesli.
The taste test
Crunchy Raisin granola
I dove straight into the Crunchy Raisin granola as I’m a bit of a granola fiend. This one didn’t disappoint. It’s got good chunks, fat chewy raisins and it’s satisfyingly crunchy so a little goes a long way. It’s delicious sprinkled onto some fruit and yogurt or out of a mug with ice-cold milk as a midnight snack when the baby wakes up for the umpteempth time that night.
Low Sugar granola
I tried out the Low Sugar granola next and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve tried low sugar granolas in the past and have been disappointed as they really had removed all of the sugar and it therefore tasted like a weird savoury chewy mouthful of seeds. The Rude Health one however is absolutely delicious. While there’s less than 2g of sugar per serving, it still tastes sweet enough to satiate that sweet tooth.
Low Sugar muesli
Last up was the Low Sugar muesli and I was surprised that this was my favourite of the three cereals. It’s a light and crispy mix of puffed quinoa, oats and spelt flakes mixed with chewy dried apricots and some pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Other mueslis can get heavy and clogged up in the milk but this stayed crispy. It was also delicious sprinkled onto porridge for a bit of texture and crunch.
