London’s favourite vegetarian restaurant, Tibits, have been inspired by the sunshine to create a truly scrumptious menu perfect for the summer season. Healthy Living London writer Beth Windsor checks it out…
Summer is the ideal time for new adventures so why not take your tastebuds around the world in 40 vegetarian and vegan salads. Inspired by travel and new experiences, Tibits have launched a Taste of the Sea Summer menu which sees dishes from the seas of the Mediterranean to the oceans of Asia. Each day you will find a different selection of healthy hot and cold dishes all freshly made every morning using seasonal organic and locally sourced ingredients. Having their own rooftop garden on Regent Street allows the chefs to create daily dishes of locally grown fresh vegetables, leaves and herbs.
Our favourite dishes include the celeriac tonnato, wakame glass noodle salad and the vegetable ceviche, but you’ll be spoilt for choice with the range of amazing dishes to choose from. The quality and flavour is so good that you won’t even notice you’re eating in a vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant has over 15 years experience in creating modern vegetarian dishes full of flavour and variety. This makes it the perfect place to take your carnivorous friends for an animal friendly feast.
Along with a new summer menu of deliciously light salads on offer, Tibits have also brought out a refreshing summer cocktail to please your palate. The ‘Strawberry Stardust’ cocktail is inspired by David Bowie who posed for the cover of this album ‘Ziggy Stardust’ outside the location of the restaurant – 23 Heddon Street. This delightful summery cocktail mixes vodka, Aperol and Tibits strawberry mint juice all topped up with tonic water and finished with a dash of lemon juice. There’s also lots of lovely summery juices on offer if you’re being good this summer.
The summer menu also sees the introduction of a coded symbol card for all dishes on the ‘food boat’ which clearly labels what each item contains such as dairy, gluten, wheat, sugar, etc. This is an allergy sufferers dream as you no longer need to go through the hassle of asking the waiter what each dish contains. It makes it so much easier for customers to be able to choose their meal tailored to their dietary requirements, preferences, intolerances and allergies.
If this isn’t enough to get your tastebuds tingling then you need to experience London’s first vegan afternoon tea served only at Tibits! The Tibits Tea is comprised of delightful treats such as traditional scones with jam and vegan cream, lemon drizzle slices and even a pineapple upside down cake. The tasty ciabatta finger sandwiches are cleverly filled with innovative fillings such as ‘mock-tuna mousse’ and a cucumber, carrot and horseradish pate. Enjoy all this with refreshing drink on the side such as organic jasmine flower the, a kombucha drink or even a glass of vegan prosecco. Our favourite has to be the cooling fruit iced tea – absolutely scrumptious.
