Vegan Hot Chocolate by Maza

November 9, 2016 by HelloFitty Leave a Comment

When recently launched chocolate Maza got in touch with a delicious vegan hot chocolate recipe, we couldn’t wait to give it a try. The Maza philosophy involves using whole foods rather than flavours or extracts and the list of ingredients is minimal. Each bar contains a minimum of 70% cacao solids made from 60% cacao beans and 10% cacao butter to create an intense dark chocolate packed with the goodness of cacao. Each hand made bar is dairy, gluten and soy free.

Available in three flavours: dark, almond and coconut, Maza is the only chocolate in the UK to use palmya nectar, a traditional ayurvedic ingredient that is nutrient dense and particulary high in Vitamin B12 – the mood boosting vitamin. As well as enjoying the chocolate on its own, it can be combined with a few simple ingredients to make a delicious vegan hot chocolate.

Vegan Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

1 cup of almond milk
A very generous spoonful or 2 of smooth Almond Butter
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
About 4-5 pieces of Maza chocolate (any flavour)
1tsp palmyra nectar powder or sweetener of choice to taste

Instructions

Simply warm the milk in the pan and pour it into your favourite mug over the broken chocolate, palmyra nectar, cinnamon and almond butter, mix thoroughly to produce the heavenly elixir.

We were such a fan of this recipe and found that we didn’t actually need to add any additional sweeter, the cinnamon and almond butter was enough to provide a lovely flavour and creamy texture that wasn’t overly sweet. This really is the perfect indulgent treat for cold winter evenings and perfect for anyone following a vegan diet.
