Changing seasons are always a good time to review anything we put into or onto our bodies. Many of us are energised to carry out a deep clean around our homes as Winter eases into Spring, or perhaps embark on a juice cleanse to boost digestion, but it’s also a great opportunity to clear out your beauty products and shake up your skincare routine. When Cult51 London reached out, offering us a chance to sample their revolutionary 3D skincare, offering a ‘one cream skin regime’ that tackles major skin concerns like ageing, dehydration, pigmentation, blemishes and dull skin, HLL’s Lucinda was delighted to give it a test run!
What I look for in a skincare product
My skin is like a fussy, temperamental teenager. I am closer to 40 than I’d like to admit, yet I still get breakouts, painful lumps under the skin, blackheads, not to mention the onset of fine lines, not so fine lines, dark circles round the eyes and an ever so slightly sagging jaw line. Horrors! Whilst I am open to try a lot of things in the quest to preserve any remaining glimmers of the glowing, tight skin that we take for granted in our youth, there are three key things I look for in any skincare product:
- An ethical brand that is cruelty-free, and ideally vegan ✅
- Minimal faff! It needs to be fast and fuss free ✅
- Results! ✅
As we emerged from a long, testing Winter in lockdown, with arguably too much time spent inside in a cosy but very drying centrally heated environment, my skin felt dried out, dull and congested. A perfect moment and opportunity to try out a new product.
The product range is named Cult51 as it claims to have over 51 anti-ageing benefits clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by over 50% in just one month. These are bold claims, but the brand has quite a loyal following and having tried and tested them for the past four weeks, I am definitely noticing the difference!
Products I tested
How I found the products
As soon as I started using the Revolutionary 3D skincare product range, I instantly liked the feel and effect from the products. The serums glide onto the skin and delicate area around the eye and is absorbed within seconds, providing instant results, firming the skin tone and reducing fine lines and dark circles. I felt this instantly and continued use has led to visible results.
The creams have a rich and luxurious feel. They are thick but absorb quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft and nourished. Cult51 London’s Day Cream is a luxuriously rich cream, slightly scented with SPF15. It absorbs really quickly, so you can apply your make up within minutes! My skin was left feeling softer, silky smooth and firm while boosting my skin’s moisture levels. It is packed full of anti-ageing benefits, and I really did find a difference in visibly reduced fine lines and a more even skin tone, after a month of daily use. In particular I noticed that my skin felt tighter and smoother around the eye area, which I attribute to daily use of the Eye Repair serum which really does firm the delicate skin surface and promotes the production of collagen.
The Cult51 creams are formulated with advanced ingredients to help the skin’s natural tendency to regenerate, rather than trying to restore it artificially. These include tyrosinase which helps tackle pigmentation, antioxidants to fight free radicals and protect the skin and hyaluronic acid to maintain moisture and hydration levels. The formula for the Day and Night creams are very similar. The big difference is that the Day cream includes an SPF15.
A noticeable difference
What I love about both creams is that whilst they are thick, which is usually a turn off for me, they absorb so quickly. They leave the skin feeling velvety smooth and nourished, perfectly hydrated and not at all shiny or ‘clogged’. I still get outbreaks and am often nervous trying a new product, especially a thick cream, but I actually found my skin cleared up during this one month trial, which I was thrilled about!
I noticed a difference from the very first application. The scent and texture of the range has a luxurious spa-like quality to them. I felt my skin immediately looked and felt more soft, radiant and healthy and rested after using the Night cream. There was no shiny residue when I woke up, which I have found with other Night creams and serums.
After just one month of daily use, my skin feels more plump and bright. I feel my overall skin tone is more even and balanced and I have particularly felt that the area around my eyes is smoother and more firm, from using the Immediate Effect and Eye Repair serum morning and night.
Final thoughts
I was really impressed with these products. The serums glide on and absorb so quickly, the products feel and are truly nourishing. My skin just lapped it up. The creams, though thick, absorbed very quickly as well. My boyfriend also got involved and the results on his skin, were even more noticeable than mine. I felt my skin looks and feels more smooth and balanced. The dark circles and fine lines around my eyes are noticeably reduced and most pressingly for me, the products did not give me any breakouts. If anything, I felt my skin become more smooth, firm and balanced.
My family noticed a difference and commented on how good my skin looked and although I haven’t been wearing so much makeup during the lockdown months, I did feel that my foundation blended effortlessly over the skin when using these products. The only thing I am not so keen on is the fact the creams are scented. This is a subtle aroma of gardenia, jasmine and rose, so all floral scents, which don’t really linger, but my preference is for unscented products given the choice. Above all, I would highly recommend joining the Cult51 London trend and trying out this product range.
