This weekend, hundreds if not thousands of lycra-clad, trainered health and fitness fans will traipse through the doors of the Business Design Centre in Islington to get their fill of healthy snacks, discover latest protein powders and snack bars and sample London’s finest classes at Be:Fit.
Whilst it’s not a big show, there is still a fair bit to see and we wouldn’t want you to miss out so we’ve rounded up all the stalls that you must tick off your list.
Bio-tiful Dairy, Stand H29
Fermented food is all the rage and kefir has been around for donkeys years so it makes sense that Bio-tiful base their products on ancient recipes. Try all four available flavours (Riazhenka (made from baked milk), honey and mint kefir, morello cherry kefir and original) before you leave – unlike traditional kefir, they’ve somehow got rid of the fizziness but kept the naturally sour / sweet tastes. Kefir is usually a love it or hate it, but Bio-tiful are definitely high on our love scale, as well as being super good for your gut.

Try all the kefir flavours – we’re a fan of the original but the cherry is also pretty tasty 🙂
Elvie, Stand H35
We don’t normally talk about ‘accidents’, especially not when it comes to weeing ourselves when we sneeze, laugh or jump about on trampolines but Elvie, ‘your most personal trainer’, is in the process of changing that. It’s a rather innocuous pelvic floor trainer which fits up your fanny and connects to your phone (by Bluetooth). The Elvie app contains a game you can play which makes training your pelvic floor muscles more fun. If you’re female, then you absolutely need to pay them a visit.

Elvie – the personal, personal trainer…
Frill, Stand N27
These guys are generously giving out sample pots of their frozen smoothies, available in 3 different flavours. We tried the chocolate (tastes JUST LIKE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!) and the green one but from all the ‘mmm-ing’ going on, the berry one tasted just as good too. Imagine your favourite smoothie frozen and turned into sorbet. That’s Frill.

Wish we’d tried the berry too – the green smoothie and chocolate were delicious!
Hello Fitty, Stand F21
How can we fail to love a brand which also uses Hello Fitty?! Unlike our T-shirts, Hello Fitty are subscription boxes containing NOT JUST HEALTHY SNACKS, but also fitness equipment, muscle rubs and a whole host of other things to help you lead a well-rounded fitty life. Go say hi and take a sneak peek into what kind of thing they send out each month. You’ll love them.

Rebound UK, Stand GF6
Full of passion and fun, the party’s where these guys are at. Hosting mini bouncy fitness sessions throughout the day, they’re low impact, high-energy and will help you sweat off all the samples you’ll no-doubt snack on. Plus, they’re also giving you the chance to win your very own trampoline so you can practice your Tigger moves at home. As long as you have low ceilings…

Yoga Leggs, Stand F32
Maybe we’re still on a high from our animal-themed charity bootcamp or maybe we just love their designs, but (and especially according to Healthy Living London writer, Amy), you can never get enough animal print in your life. They’ve also got a flattering high waist. Fun and quirky, you can get all animal-ed up here and you’ll also love their Inhale, Exhale, Repeat vests.

So… much… animal print!
Pics Peanut Butter, Stand
When a chef and nutritionist waxes lyrical about peanut butter, we listen. Having heard all about Pics through Toral from The Urban Kitchen’s wonderful Instagram account, it was great to finally get our hands on Pics and sample their crunchy and smooth ‘slugs’ (we’re crunchy all the way). Hailing from New Zealand, you’d have thought that there’s nothing that these kiwis can do that others can’t do better, right? Wrong. They specifically choose high oleic nuts and they also offer a with and a without salt option. Hooray.

Crunchy or smooth? (CRUNCHY)
Hey Holla! Stand F7
Nothing says fitness right now like motivational, fitness-wear and Hey Holla have it down to a T. Bold and brash, these are statement wear and if you’re loud and proud about your gym-going then we guarantee you’ll love their muscle tanks and sweats. We also loved their chevron hair ties…

‘Chia Leader’ had us chuckling…
Field & Flower, Stand N8
Specialising in beef, (the owners have their own cattle farm), Field & Flower are a premium meat delivery company that also ship out other local meat and traditional produce. Passionate about ensuring top notch meat, they feed their cows on grass and don’t use antibiotics like so many farmers, to ‘beef up’ their produce. They also answered our questions about the lifestyle of the cows and how they were slaughtered, honestly and straightforwardly. We trusted them and there’s not many in such a dubious industry that we do trust. They even offered to show us round their slaughterhouse to see exactly how humanely their cows were slaughtered. Watch this space – we’d love to report back to you all. If you want meat that you can trust and want to find out more about the meat industry from a company which seems to be putting quality over profit, then make sure you don’t skip past Field & Flower. And sign up to a box whilst you’re a at it!

Aquablend, Stand GF4
Aquablend are BPA-free fruit infusion water bottles that come with two different top types, twist top and flip too for when you’re out and about or in the gym. With a selection of freshly made infusions available to taste and an array of bottles in lots of different colourways, Aquablend’s stand is one of the most colourful & refreshing at Be:Fit!
Rolla Granola, Stand N22
Super tasty granola in a bewildering array of flavours, including sugar-free and paleo options, lovingly made in a home kitchen by lovely people who are truly passionate about granola. One to visit if you’re as curious as I was about how granola could possibly be paleo!
Are you heading to Be:Fit or have you already visited? Which was your favourite stands?
Psst! Hungry after the show? If you want authentic delicious Vietnamese food then we especially love The Little Viet Kitchen which is a few minutes from Angel Station. Just make sure to book in advance.
