GLUTEN-FREE | DAIRY-FREE | VEGAN
Serves 2
There are some fats we should welcome into our lives, not keep them away. This good fat smoothie recipe is packed full of essential fatty acids and vitamins that promote energy and contain vitamins such as A and D.
If you’ve ever avoided fats, you’re doing it wrong. Mind you, not all fats were created equal – there are definitely some to steer well clear of. However, the fats we’re using in this smoothie are only the good ones – the unsaturated ones. Unsaturated fats can help lower bad cholesterol and increase the levels of high density lipoproteins (good cholesterol).
Don’t forget, like with anything, just because these are ‘good fats’, it doesn’t mean you can eat them every day. A balanced diet is the best diet of all.
Ingredients
- 1/2 avocado
- 1.5 cup of Macadamia Nut Milk
- Handful of spinach
- 6 almonds
Method
- Blend everything together thoroughly until smooth. Serve immediately.
You can also an alternative milk if you wish but we love Provamel’s macademia flavour as it’s rich and lip-smackingly good. Using different nut milks can dramatically change the overall taste so be sure to experiment! You can also try different nuts – cashews work well, as do pecans – but don’t put too many in!
To blend, we use a Nutribullet but we have also used a hand blender for this recipe. Hand blenders can be picked up quite cheaply from major supermarkets for around £5 and they’re also good for making pasta sauces and soups too.
