This pineapple smoothie packed with seeds, parsley and celery will have you oozing a sense of wellbeing and health. Rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and great taste, it’s not called a Power Glow for nothing!
If you want something that tastes delicious as well as filling you with goodness, this is the smoothie for you. The pineapple adds the sweetness, the celery the freshness and the seeds, the nuttiness. Better yet, all ingredients are bursting with health benefits:
Pineapple: Has been reported to improve digestion and reduce excessive inflammation thanks to the bromelain found within it. The vitamin C helps your immune system and the manganese is an important cofactor in a number of enzymes that contribute to energy production.
Mixed Seeds (including Flaxseeds): Flaxseed contains dietary fibre which helps regulate appetite. It also contains Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), which is a powerful anti-inflammatory.
Parsley: Rich in vitamins C, B12, K and A, it keeps your immune system in tip-top condition and repairs your nervous system. Eat it every day and it’ll help soothe joints as it also has anti-inflammatory powers.
Celery: As well as being a powerful anti-inflammatory, celery helps regulate the body’s alkaline levels, reducing acidity. It also soothes your nervous system so is perfect for those needing stress-relief. And don’t forget, it can reduce bad cholesterol and lower blood pressure. We should be eating this every day!
Ingredients
- 1/3 fresh pineapple, chopped
- 2 sticks of celery
- 1/2 handful of fresh parsley leaves
- 2 tsp mixed seeds
- 2 tsp ground flaxseed
- Cold water
Method
- Put all ingredients into your blender and top up with water until all ingredients are covered. This should be about 1-2 cups of water.
- Blend until smooth. This will be quite watery as the celery and pineapple contain a lot of liquid. If you want something thicker, mix with almond milk or coconut yoghurt instead.
