Cookies, and in particular stuffed cookies, have been enjoying their moment in the spotlight recently and this is where Floozie comes in. Created by pastry chef Kimberly Lin, these vegan cookies feature 5 signature flavours with a 6th seasonally-changing flavour. Chef Lin was inspired by the 1920’s which is the branding is art deco and it really is very pretty! Also, who can ever say no to a cookie?!
We received a box of 6 cookies featuring the 5 signature flavours and the seasonal flavour. Each was individually wrapped but there was no note saying which cookie was which flavour so I had to work it out from the website, all while trying not to salivate over my keyboard.
I tried:
PB&J – love love loved the raspberry jam in the middle of this one but could have done with more peanut butter
Cinnamon Crunch – This was my favourite from the slightly firmer texture to the crunchy cinnamon flakes and icing drizzle on top
Pecan Pie – A close runner-up to the top spot thanks to the sweet gooey filling and the chunks of pecan
Celebration Cake – The crunchy sugar sprinkles were a nice textural feature and again, the raspberry jam was delicious in the middle
Ombar Strawberry Mylk Chocolate – This was my least favourite, possibly because the strawberry flavour was overpowering and I’m not really a fan of flavoured chocolate
Chocolate Chunk – This was a solid chocolate cookie but it was a bit soft for my liking, I prefer a firmer cookie
The Pecan Pie flavour is stuffed with a gooey date caramel which Floozie recommending as a good way of breaking the daily fast for Ramadan as people might traditionally partake of dates as the iftar offering to break their fast. These cookies could be a lovely way to share the iftar with friends and neighbours but as the fasting hours are very long this year (16-18 hours daily), people who are fasting should also focus on low-fat fluid-rich foods and foods with natural sugars.
Floozie recommend eating the cookies straight away at room temperature (which we obviously did) but they keep up to 5 days in an airtight container and can be refreshed in the oven or microwave. They also freeze well and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
