As a chocolate fiend, I’m always open to trying chocolatey products to satisfy those chocolate cravings. You can imagine my excitement when MyVegan sent me their first ready-to-drink protein shake (RTD) offering in chocolate flavour to try. Aad in time for World Vegan Month too.
Who are MyVegan?
MyVegan is a sports plant-based sports nutrition brand and subsidiary of the world’s leading digitally native sports nutrition brand, MyProtein.
As more people reduce their meat consumption and transition to veganism and vegetarianism, getting protein in can be daunting, especially when you might be used to eating chicken and meat a lot. RTD protein shakes are a good supplement for an afternoon (or morning) slump or for after workouts.
What does the MyVegan RTD drink offer?
The protein shake is made from all-natural ingredients, including almonds and cocoa solids. There’s no palm oil and each shake comes with 11g of plant-powered protein. The protein comes from pea protein and the shakes come in fully recyclable bottles.
The shakes are naturally flavoured and sweetened naturally with cane sugar and stevia and if you’re not a fan of chocolate, the shakes come in strawberry flavour as well.
What’s the verdict?
This year I had to reduce dairy for dietary reasons. I had previously enjoyed the protein shakes from another brand, For Goodness Shakes. I’ve missed those shakes and can say that the MyVegan protein shakes are a brilliant vegan alternative.
I personally prefer dark chocolate and my only suggestion would be to have a stronger chocolate flavour. The drinks come in a small bottle. However, they are filling and a good way to supplement your protein in take.
