With restrictions easing we are finally afforded more freedom and are able to get back outside more, or even go to the gym! I have to admit that I have gained a few quarantine kilos and need to focus on being less Netflix and chill and more couch to 5k. This is going to be challenging and definitely something that I will need to prioritise. It’s going to take discipline, but with the weather improving, there’s no better time to get outdoors. For me, it’s about feeling good about myself, especially as the sun comes out and the layers peel off. I want to feel more confident and our August Round Up is full of things to help you feel good…
August Round Up
Perkier Bars
All our snacks are high in fibre, packed with protein and lower in sugar. Many have added vitamins and even probiotics for gut health. Everything we do is gluten free, vegan and palm oil free
Perkier
I was recently sent a variety box of Perkier bars and boy are they yummy. Created by Ann Perkins and Steve Turner, Perkier bars were originally cooked up in their kitchen when Ann needed to eat gluten and dairy free and was frustrated by the choices. I love products like Perkier as they have been passionately created by someone who needed a specific dietary requirement. My niece is both gluten and dairy intolerant, so these bars are an awesome snack for her! As they are individually wrapped, (all packaging is recyclable) they are a great on-the-go pick-me-up!
Perkier bars are healthy snacks, packed with flavour… I especially love their salted caramel and cacao flavour, they’re yummy.

SAKRID Haircare
“SAKRID is a self-care brand on a mission to lovingly remove harmful and questionable ingredients from the lives of consumers who are taking ownership of their own health and wellness, but still want high quality products.”
Sakrid
Natalie Elliott created SAKRID after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and she made the startling realisation that she and her family were using products filled with potentially harmful ingredients.
As a result, Natalie created a beauty range that simply removed all harmful ingredients without compromising on quality. SAKRID believes in using the best ingredients and saying no to questionable products. Their products are naturally vegan, halal, organic and always cruelty-free. Plus, they are handmade in the UK using the best natural ingredients.
I have been using SAKRID Clean & Calm Organic Shampoo and Smooth & Silky Organic Conditioner for a couple of months now and I think SAKRID is great. It took a few washes for my hair to respond – sounds weird I know, but this happens when I change haircare products – it always takes my hair a few washes to sink in! The smell is subtle; gently floral. The liquid flows easily, so be careful not to use too much. I would recommend SAKRID as not only is the product free from all harmful ingredients, the company is ethical and cruelty free.

Blister Plasters by Ultimate Performance
The Ultimate Blister Plasters are the ideal way to take care of blisters encountered on the move. Take the individually wrapped blister plasters with you on your walk, hike, bike, run or race.
1000mile.co.uk
In an effort to move more, after a year of sedentary behaviour (thanks Covid), I have started to get out and about. London is so beautiful, especially when the sun comes out, but even more so after the better part of a year in lockdown! I have been pounding the pavements and exploring the city that I live in, like a tourist. However, my feet are not used to this new found freedom, especially as I have been wearing new trainers. The first week or so of wearing new shoes, I almost always get blisters and the heatwave that moved through the country last month added discomfort to my sore and tired feet.
Blister plasters from Ultimate Performance are awesome; the perfect remedy for tired feet. Once applied, this hydrocoloid plaster provides immediate relief from the pain of blisters and the cushion prevents further rubbing. I love that they are individually wrapped as I always carry one in my handbag, in case a blister decides to pop up! Whenever I travel, I carry a medical kit and I have duly added these as one of my essentials.

Repreve Running Socks
REPREVE® is one of the most certified, earthfriendly fibres available in the world, currently over 25 billion plastic bottles re-purposed.
1000mile.co.uk
Socks are an essential piece of kit, but I am always swayed to ones that not only perform well, but are also greener. Repreve running socks are just that; performance socks that are made from recycled plastic bottles. They are breathable, super soft, have an arch braced support and extra padding.
What I love about these socks are that they come in a large range of sizes for both men and women. This is especially important to me as I am dating a Big Foot – he has size 14 feet… I know! It’s difficult to find socks and shoes that fit him, so I was so pleased to find a brand that accommodates his giant feet, but also a brand that is environmentally minded.

The Big Silk Face Mask
Our 100% Mulberry silk face coverings provide a comfortable but snug fit around the mouth and nose. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic making our masks ideal for prolonged wear.
The Big Silk
Face masks are no longer ‘legally’ required, but I still choose to wear mine in shops and on public transport. I recently decided to indulge in a little luxury and got myself a mask from The Big Silk. Why didn’t I get this a year ago?! It’s so soft and lovely; the mask is made with 100% Mulberry Silk and is washable and reusable. The mask has a sewn in flexible strip across the nose, so that the mask can be pinched here and fit snug around the mouth and nose. The adjustable elastic ear loops make the mask easy to put on.
I like this mask as it’s light, super soft and you can breathe easy with it on. I am not in the medical profession, so I can not comment on the protection offered – this is not a medical mask.
