Running and cycling are brilliant ways to keep fit in London. There are so many fantastic parks and green spaces to explore as well as the long and winding tow path alongside the River Thames. We all know how many benefits there are to exercising in nature, but what you wear whilst you get your sweat on is just as important. Quick-wicking tech fabrics are key to keeping your body performing optimally whilst you work out. Healthy Living London’s Lucinda reviews the Speed Diva Socks from Bridgedale..
Running and cycling are key ingredients to my weekly workout menu. Whilst I love to shake things up and try something new every now and then, running and cycling are my bread and butter staples. There aren’t many weeks I go without them. When Bridgedale approached me to trial their Speed Diva Socks, I was delighted to give them a go.
Designed to be used for running, cycling and regular gym workouts, they are lightweight, highly breathable and feature anti-shock cushioning on the ball of the foot and Achilles heel for additional impact protection.
I found them much thicker than my regular running socks, but were comfortable nonetheless. The socks feature targeted ventilation to keep your feet cool, but I was surprised to find my feet felt hot throughout my run, despite it being a cold and frosty winter morning. Made with merino wool, which provides excellent thermal and moisture control properties, I’d recommend these to anyone who really suffers from cold feet.
Bridgedale have such confidence in the longevity of their products, they offer a 3-year guarantee, so if you’re not completely satisfied with the quality and performance of your socks, you can exchange them. (T&Cs apply).
After a few washes and wears, I’ve found that they retain their fit, cushioning and comfort, which is a testament to a durable and quality product.
Final Thoughts
After a couple of runs and spins on the bike, I found these socks more suitable and comfortable for cycling. My feet just got too hot whilst running, but the extra cushioning on the ball of the foot was really comfortable when out on the road for a long ride on the bike.
