If you’re passionate about eating naturally and love endurance sports, then ditch over processed energy sources and discover Tribe! With the motto “Eat Natural Run Free”, Tribe offer natural sports nutrition delivered to your door.
Tribe make performance nutrition snacks from natural ingredients, developed with the insight of a leading nutritional therapist. They sent me a box that included their four main products that are available in a variety of types:
1. Energy bars – designed to be eaten 30-40 minutes before training, they contain natural vitamin and mineral rich sources of carbohydrate. I tried the cacao and almond bar, it was delightfully filling with a subtle chocolate flavour.
2. Trail mixes – also designed to be eaten 30-40 minutes before training, they contain ingredients such as nuts, seeds and dried fruit all in raw form. Each mix is named after the founder’s favourite trail run. I love how they have injected so much personality into the brand!
3. Recovery bars – designed to be eaten 20 minutes after training to aid recovery, they contain the optimum ratio of carbohydrate vs protein. My favourite was the Bogoya banana bar which I sampled after a ten mile run. It was really tasty and it felt good to be refuelling with natural sources of energy.
4. Mineral boosters – these are a mix of seeds and other yummy flavours such as crushed chilli and paprika that provide a natural source of protein and minerals. These are perfect for adding to salads or similar. I sprinkled mine over scrambled eggs – delicious!
Tribe offer a great variety of products perfect for endurance training. I have a sensitive stomach and struggle with heavily processed energy gels and recovery bars, so these natural alternatives are ideal to compliment my training. I also like to know exactly what I am putting inside my body so it is great to see natural alternatives. Tom, Guy and Rob (the founders) are clearly very passionate about running and this is reflected throughout the brand, even the packaging has motivational messages!
Tribe also hold a number of running events around London (more details can be found on their Facebook page) and they seem like a great community to be involved with. They tell a great story about how the company started; following a 1000 mile run across Eastern Europe and a lack of good nutrition. View the video here.
