If you are reading this you are probably blessed with a larger than average bust and know how annoying this can be when you want to work out. You know the pain of insufficient support and the excessive cleavage spillage of a flimsy crop top. Look no further – we have tried and tested some for you with a pair of 32E sized boobs and these are the bras that came up trumps!
FOR RUNNING
The Shock Absorber Ultimate RUN Bra £40
This bra has run lots awards for best running bra – most recently The Running Awards 2015. Its great – Shock Absorber is undeniably a go to brand for sporty ladies and they do also cater well for the larger chest. Sometimes I find the chest band a little tight so instead of a 32E might buy a 34DD. Worth trying on to get it perfect for you – excellent bra.
Freya Active Moulded Crop Top Sports Bra £40
I loved this bra to run in – it has great coverage and you feel very secure in it. I am also personally a big fan of Freya bras for the larger chest – I always love the fit – they are cut well and run true to size – this quality definitely continues over into their active range.
FOR CIRCUITS/SPINNING/GENERAL TRAINING
The Shock Absorber Active Multi Sports Support £33
This bra is perfect for a hardcore circuits class – Personally I need more support when going for a run but it is nice not to have to wear the strongest boulder holder for every single workout so this is the perfect step down from the running bras – still strong support but a little less….huge. Cool colours to choose from too – this retro one pictured is the newest in the range.
Freya Active Moulded Sports Bra £38
Another really comfortable high/medium impact bra from Freya Active. As mentioned before the cut is great. This is more bra like than a lot of more crop-top style sports bras which may affect how you want to style it with your workout outfit – but it is very functional….burpees in this bra will not be a problem!
FOR YOGA/LOW IMPACT TRAINING
Sweat Betty Resistance Workout bra £35
This surprised me as the product description says up to C cup, but if you do the ‘Sweaty Betty bra selector guide’ it does come up as a low impact option for larger busts….so I went into a store and tried it on. For me it works perfectly! It is pure bliss being able to wear a sports bra with no wires and clasps and clips and still feel fully supported! I love it for yoga, pilates and less jumpy strength training classes like weights or kettlebells. I wear a medium size for a 32E and it is quite tight so holds everything in place – it’s entirely made from soft material but still pretty strong. I recommend going to try them on and see what you think… you may be very pleasantly surprised!
Ok – Well firstly for us with larger boobs this is not for ‘All Sports’ and certainly not for running as stated on the Lululemon website but it is a super comfortable bra for low impact. I find it perfect for a relaxed yoga class or even just one of those days when you have a 100 chores and you are dashing about everywhere – it is the perfect relaxed-yet-still-need-a-little-something-bra! Like the Sweaty Betty Resistance Bra above it has no clasps which is always refreshing to wear and I like the width of the straps – nice and secure yet not at all unattractive.
A FINAL THOUGHT…
Decent sports bras are expensive – which is annoying as they are an essential for us – not a luxury. However, they really are worth the money, especially if you have larger boobs. If you are going to invest in one useful bit of sports kit – especially for high impact sports please invest in a decent bra – you will thank yourself in the future and they do last. All the ones I have talked about here I have had for a while and they wash well and still going strong.
