F45 stands for Functional 45, emphasizing the core principles of this workout: functional training and a 45-minute duration. The class is designed to simulate everyday movements and challenge your fitness level through a mix of exercises; expect it to be fast-paced and sweaty! It’s the perfect fit for busy people of all levels of fitness who want to maximize their workout time.

Discovering F45’s Triple Double Class
The Triple Double class is aptly named because it involves doing three sets of each exercise at various stations before completing the entire circuit again. While I can’t recall the exact number of exercise stations (it was all a blur of sweat!), I can assure you that they covered a wide range of movements, including:
- Bike Sprints
- Compound Exercises
- Crossfit-Style Box Jumps
- Plank Pull-Throughs
- Medicine Ball Throws
I loved the variety and felt like by the end of it, it had been a proper full body workout.
The Sweat Factor
One thing that became immediately apparent during the Triple Double F45 class was the intensity. I’ve attended various fitness classes in the past, but I don’t think I’ve ever sweated as much as I did during this 45-minute session. It’s safe to say that if you decide to give it a try, you’ll want to bring a towel. Fortunately, the reception offers sweat towels for borrowing. Top tip: borrow one at the beginning so you don’t have to dash over to get one mid-way through!
What’s great about the sessions is that while you’ll get swept along with the pace of the class, you can choose the level of intensity and challenge to suit you.
Structured Guidance: Trainer Support and Screens
Although the class lasts 45 minutes, some time is dedicated to explaining the exercises at the beginning. This is where the trainers shine. With two trainers on hand, they guide you through the techniques and movements at each station. And even if you happen to forget, screens with clear instructions and numbered stations make it easy to follow along. It’s a class that lets you turn off your brain and focus on getting sweaty. And the trainers roam around, correcting technique, providing motivation and, as happened for me, increasing the height on your jump box!
Post-Workout Amenities
After an intense workout, you have to squeeze through a corridor round the side of the studio to access the changing rooms. While it’s fairly compact, everything is clean and well-lit. There seem to be enough showers not to cause a long queue and the lockers are user-friendly (ie they don’t require you to insert money – who carries change around these days? – or fiddle about setting a pin). And for those who are dashing off straight to work, there’s plenty of space and hairdryers to do make-up.
All-Inclusive: Suited for All Fitness Levels
What sets this class apart is its adaptability. Whether you’re a fitness novice or a seasoned pro, the Triple Double F45 class can be tailored to your abilities. You can choose to level up or modify exercises as needed, making it accessible to everyone. It’s a welcoming environment where you can work at your own pace. One thing I did discover however, was that on one particular exercise, there were 3 of us vying for the lighter medicine ball! I ended up going heavier than I would normally which I don’t suppose is a bad thing.
