This summer, from the 10th of May until the 16th August, John Lewis has teamed up with Manuka Life and Liz Earle to offer a series of wellbeing events in their stores across the country. Attendees will take part in a yoga class followed by a skincare talk and workshop by a member of the Liz Earle team, whilst enjoying healthy snacks and juices. Tickets will be priced at £25 per person, however, this will be redeemable against Liz Earle or Manuka Life products on the day. Guests will also be offered a complimentary yoga mat and Liz Earle product to take away! Everyone loves a freebie! Healthy Living London were thrilled to have been invited to the launch at The Gardening Society, the pop-up rooftop garden, restaurant and bar at the flagship Oxford Street store.
The Gardening Society, on the rooftop of John Lewis’ Oxford Street store, is such a lovely place. Filled with plants and flowers, the large area offers a relaxing space in the heart of the city, with a fabulous view. Open space, as well as covered garden-shed seating areas are perfect for London’s capricious weather and are a great idea for a bar and restaurant during the summer months. However, for the following two hours, it was the location for the launch of John Lewis’ wellbeing events.
The Manuka Life yoga mats were laid out on the decking, ready for a rejuvenating yoga class with Tuuli Yoga. Her voice was soft and calming as she gently led us through the exercises. Her yoga was focused on breathe and stretching, with a slow and steady approach. I thought her class was the perfect mix of toning exercises and relaxing breathing techniques; working out, but focusing on wellbeing and self-reflection through deep breathes. The Manuka Life yoga mats were soft and lightly spongy and I was thrilled to learn that they were ours to keep after the class!
We were then treated to a workshop with Sarah Carr, one of Liz Earle’s ambassadors. With so many people exercising and working on their bodies, Liz Earle believes that we often neglect the muscles in our face. With this in mind, Sarah led us through a few facial exercises…
Liz Earle lifestyle ambassador, Sarah Carr, has shared her ‘do it yourself’ facial massage with Healthy Living London’s readers…
To get your face glowing, take time for a facial massage – it increases circulation and lymphatic drainage while helping to visibly reduce skin tiredness and puffiness.
- Start on the chin and use upwards and outwards circular movements towards the ears x 3
- Using your index fingers, use gentle downward strokes from the inner corner of the eye down towards the jaw x 5
- Using your middle fingers, press at the start of your eyebrow, pause for 3 seconds and firmly but gently lift the brow then slide outwards towards the end of the brow x 3
- Starting in the middle of the forehead, do upward and outward circular movements towards the temples x 3
The event was a great success and everyone was glowing and smiling as they left the Gardening Society. We were given a selection of Liz Earle products to use at home and I have to say that it is easy to see why many of these products are award winning and why they are all quickly becoming firm favourites – all Liz Earle products are suitable for vegetarians, they do not test on animals and preservatives are only used when necessary. I have always been a fan of the pure muslin cloth as it really does clean out your pores, but I have now discovered the new Superskin Superlip Balm and I love it. So soft and nourishing.
